What Is Shell's Ferrari Deal Worth?
Shell’s Ferrari deal is worth around $40m a year on our numbers. The figure traces back to a 2023 SportBusiness report, cited by PlanetF1, that had Shell paying $40m a season for space on the car and uniforms. Nothing newer has surfaced since, and the sum may cover Hypercar and Challenge work as well as F1.
Only HP‘s title deal is bigger at Maranello. PETRONAS and Aramco pay more, reported at $80m and $75m, but both energy firms have their names in a team title and Shell doesn’t.
The $40m deal equals about an hour of Shell's $266.9bn revenue.

How Shell's Ferrari Partnership Works
Shell plc is the London energy group behind oil and gas, LNG, fuel stations, lubricants and chemicals, and its 2025 revenue came to $266.9bn.
At Ferrari it’s a Premium Partner that develops the race fuel and lubricants. Shell said in May 2025 that more than 50 technical staff put over 21,000 hours a year into the program, with at least two scientists at every Grand Prix. That race fuel is a bespoke blend rather than pump V-Power, and the current multiyear deal also covers Ferrari Hypercar, the Challenge series and Maranello operations.

Why Does Shell Sponsor Ferrari?
F1 cars have run on fully sustainable fuel since the 2026 rules arrived, and Shell’s renewal started with them, which put a new formula in Ferrari’s tank. Fuel is also one of the few places a sponsor can find lap time. In 2015 Shell said its fuel and oil were worth almost half a second a lap of Ferrari’s gains, a claim James Allison backed as technical director.
Endurance racing ties the brand to something people can buy. Ferrari’s 499P won Le Mans from 2023 to 2025 on Shell Helix Ultra oil, though the series’ fuel comes from TotalEnergies.

Shell's Ferrari History Since 1929
Shell counts its Ferrari story from the team’s founding in 1929, though the partnership hasn’t run unbroken and the current deal is the latest in a long line of renewals.
Shell and Ferrari Sponsorship Questions
Shell still sponsors Ferrari in 2026 under a multiyear renewal that took effect on January 1. It develops the fuel and lubricants for the F1 team as a Premium Partner, and the deal stretches to Ferrari’s Hypercar and Challenge programs. Neither company has said when the contract ends.
By Ferrari’s own account Shell has been a partner since the team was founded in 1929, and their first F1 world championship race together was Monaco in 1950. The run hasn’t been continuous, as Agip supplied Ferrari before Shell returned in 1996, and the current deal was renewed from 2026.
Ferrari’s Hypercar program is covered by Shell’s 2026 renewal, along with F1, the Ferrari Challenge and operations at Maranello. Shell’s part in endurance racing is the oil, Helix Ultra, because fuel in the World Endurance Championship comes from TotalEnergies. The 499P has won Le Mans every year since 2023.
Shell sponsors F1 through Ferrari, and no other team lists it among its 2026 partners. Rival energy companies back other teams, with PETRONAS at Mercedes and Aramco at Aston Martin. Shell has also put its name on a race, as the 2013 Belgian Grand Prix carried its branding.
Shell doesn’t disclose its Ferrari fee, and F1 Salaries puts the deal at around $40m a year. That follows a 2023 SportBusiness figure of $40m a season, and it may cover endurance and Challenge racing as well as F1. HP’s title deal is the only bigger one at the team.
