Gary Gannon earns a base salary of £180k-350k ($239k-464k) on our band for a senior race engineer at Aston Martin. With a bonus of £18k-105k ($24k-139k), his year would come to £198k-455k ($262k-603k).
The senior title is what lifts him above the £100k-180k ($133k-239k) band for a standard race engineer, the level that Haas race engineers such as Laura Müller sit on at his old team. Aston Martin keeps his actual pay private.

What Each Point Now Costs Red Bull
Gannon is the senior race engineer on Lance Stroll‘s car in 2026, and Stephen Glass holds the race engineer title on the same car. Gannon backs up that operation with the setup, session timing, tire and driver-feedback work he described in his Haas team profile.
The split mirrors Alonso’s side of the garage, where Chris Cronin is senior race engineer alongside Andrew Vizard. Experience is his main asset. He engineered Max Chilton at Marussia and four drivers at Haas before joining Aston Martin in January 2025.

Explains the 2026 setup with Gannon as senior race engineer and Stephen Glass as race engineer on Stroll's car.
2026 race engineer guide that lists Gannon's senior role on Lance Stroll's car.

Gannon’s band matches the senior tier of F1 race engineers, the same £180k-350k ($239k-464k) as Francesco Nenci, chief race engineer at his old team Haas, and Cadillac’s Xavier Marcos Padros. Most drivers’ race engineers sit lower, on £100k-180k ($133k-239k).
Gannon came to F1 from American racing, moved to England in 2010 and spent almost a decade at Haas before Aston Martin hired him for 2025.
Gannon and Chris Cronin share the senior race engineer title at Aston Martin and the same pay band, although Cronin also runs trackside engineering for both cars. Both sit above Andrew Vizard‘s £100k-180k ($133k-239k), and Gannon’s band is level with chief aerodynamicist Gioacchino Vino‘s at the factory.
Lance Stroll’s car has Gary Gannon as senior race engineer and Stephen Glass as race engineer in 2026. Glass carries the race engineer’s day-to-day work, with Gannon in the senior role Aston Martin added when it expanded its trackside structure. Alonso’s car has the same arrangement with Chris Cronin and Andrew Vizard.
Gary Gannon engineered four Haas drivers. Romain Grosjean came first from the team’s 2016 debut, followed by Kevin Magnussen from 2018, Mick Schumacher in 2021 and 2022 and Nico Hülkenberg in 2023 and 2024. He’d joined Haas in March 2015, a year before its first race.
Gannon is American, not Irish as some profiles have claimed. Gary Gannon studied mechanical engineering at Cornell and worked for Honda Performance Development in the US before moving to England in 2010, where Wirth Research and the new Virgin team gave him his first F1 job.
Gary Gannon’s base salary falls in F1 Salaries’ senior race engineer band of £180k-350k ($239k-464k). Add a bonus of £18k-105k ($24k-139k) and his year reaches £198k-455k ($262k-603k). Aston Martin doesn’t publish his pay, and no reliable net worth figure exists.
January 2025 is when Gary Gannon joined Aston Martin, after almost ten years at Haas. Older profiles that put him at the team before 2024 have the date wrong. He worked on Lance Stroll’s car through 2025 and moved into the senior race engineer role when the team expanded its structure for 2026.
