F1 Team Value & Salaries

Aston Martin F1 Net Worth and Team Valuation
Aston Martin’s $3.5bn value comes from the August deal that made Woody Johnson a minority investor. PlanetF1 reported that valuation, while the team confirmed the stake sale and kept the price quiet. Forbes had the team at $3.2bn in 2025. Neither figure includes Aston Martin Lagonda, the listed road-car company that shares the name.
Forbes’ F1-only model gives the team $353m of revenue for 2024 and an $18m operating loss. Figures nearer $370m appear elsewhere, partly because they count a wider business or convert currency at a different rate. The driver bill is $36m in base salary, with Fernando Alonso on $24m and Lance Stroll on $12m.

Forbes values Aston Martin at $3.2bn for 2025 and models $353m of F1 revenue with an $18m operating loss in 2024.
Sportico's 2023 and 2024 editions value the team at $1.14bn and $2.07bn and estimate its operating losses for 2022 and 2023.
Driver pay takes 10% of Aston Martin's revenue, and the team spent $18m more than it brought in.
Revenue and profit are from the latest filed accounts. Driver pay is the 2026 base salary of both race drivers.
How Much Are Alonso and Stroll Paid at Aston Martin?

Fernando Alonso

Lance Stroll

Aston Martin’s driver salaries come to $36m in 2026, and both drivers have now signed on for 2027. Fernando Alonso’s salary is $24m on the two-year, $48m deal he signed in April 2024. The team confirmed his new contract on September 29, 2026 and called it long-term, although Alonso said the next day that his racing commitment covers 2027 only. No fee was given.
Lance Stroll’s salary is $12m on a two-year contract from June 2024 that’s worth $24m. He was confirmed for 2027 on the same day as his teammate, so the line-up stays together for a fifth straight season. The value of his new deal hasn’t been published.
Projected years come from signed deals, using reported figures where they exist and estimates where they don't. TBC means that seat isn't signed yet.

Aston Martin F1 Staff and Engineer Salaries
Adrian Newey runs the technical side with Enrico Cardile, and Andy Cowell is chief strategy officer. Newey’s package is a one-off, so industry benchmarks of about $135k for a race engineer and $75k for a mechanic are a better guide to the wider factory.

What Each Point Now Costs Red Bull
Who Owns Aston Martin F1 and Who Controls It?
Lawrence Stroll controls Aston Martin’s F1 team without owning most of it. Stroll-linked interests hold around 33% of the shares, and that includes roughly 27% through Racing Point UK, the company that carries at least 75% of the voting rights. Adrian Newey owns about 4.7%, and Arctos, HPS, PIF and management hold stakes too.
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson became a minority investor and vice-chairman on August 20, 2026, although the team didn’t publish his percentage or what he paid. Aston Martin Lagonda, the listed road-car maker, isn’t an owner, and its shares give no stake in the F1 team.

Aston Martin Results and the Record Back to Jordan
Aston Martin has 602 points and nine podiums since 2021, eight of them from Fernando Alonso in 2023, but no wins. Honda’s first year as its works partner has been rough, with seven points, 17 car retirements and 10th place after 18 races.
Jordan won four races and Racing Point one, so the lineage since 1991, which also takes in Midland, Spyker, and Force India, has five wins, 38 podiums and 2,201 points but no titles. The single win on Formula1.com’s Aston Martin profile is really Racing Point’s 2020 Sakhir victory.

Aston Martin F1 History Since 1959
Two separate stories sit under the Aston Martin name in F1, a short works team of 1959 and 1960 and the Silverstone outfit Eddie Jordan founded in 1991.
The Original Works Team
Aston Martin’s own works team raced front-engined F1 cars in 1959 and 1960 and never scored a championship point, even though Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby won Le Mans for the brand in 1959. It’s heritage only, with no link to the Silverstone operation.
Jordan Grand Prix
Eddie Jordan’s team arrived in 1991 and gave Michael Schumacher his F1 debut at Spa. Damon Hill led a Jordan one-two at the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix for the first win. Heinz-Harald Frentzen added two more in 1999, when the team finished third, and Giancarlo Fisichella’s 2003 Brazil victory made four.
Midland Then Spyker
The team changed hands twice in quick succession, racing as Midland in 2006 and Spyker in 2007. Neither version reached a podium. Midland ended its only season without a point and Spyker managed one, before another sale turned the team into Force India.
The Force India Era
Force India arrived in 2008, and Giancarlo Fisichella gave it a first pole and podium at Spa in 2009. The team finished fourth in 2016 and 2017, yet it went into administration in 2018. A Stroll-led consortium bought the assets and raced on under a new entry.
Racing Point and a Deduction
Racing Point Force India started as a new entry at Spa in 2018 without the old entry’s points and scored 52 of its own. It became Racing Point in 2019. Sergio Pérez won at Sakhir in 2020, and the team was fourth despite a 15-point deduction over its brake duct design.
The Aston Martin Name Returns
Racing Point was renamed Aston Martin in 2021, the brand’s first F1 entry since 1960. Sebastian Vettel finished second in Baku that year, but the team placed seventh in both 2021 and 2022. The listed road-car company didn’t own the team then and doesn’t now.
Alonso and a New Campus
Fernando Alonso joined in 2023 and scored eight podiums as Aston Martin finished fifth. The team moved into its new Silverstone campus and invested in a wind tunnel, but 2024 brought fifth place without a Grand Prix podium, and 2025 ended seventh, again without one.
Honda Power and Newey in Charge
Honda replaced Mercedes as the engine supplier in a works deal for 2026, and Adrian Newey now runs the technical program with team principal duties. Woody Johnson bought a minority stake on August 20 while Stroll kept control. The team has seven points and sits 10th after 18 races.
Aston Martin F1 Team Questions Answered
Lawrence Stroll controls the Aston Martin F1 team, but he doesn’t own all of it. Stroll-linked interests hold around 33% of the shares, and his Racing Point UK vehicle carries at least 75% of the votes. Adrian Newey, Arctos, HPS, PIF, management and Woody Johnson own other stakes, and the road-car company has separate shareholders.
PlanetF1 reported a $3.5bn valuation for the Aston Martin F1 team when Woody Johnson invested in August 2026. The team confirmed his stake without naming a price. Forbes’ 2025 estimate was $3.2bn and Sportico’s 2024 edition had $2.07bn, but those come from different models, so they don’t form a clean growth line.
Recent estimates show the Aston Martin F1 team losing money rather than turning a profit. Forbes puts its 2024 operating loss at $18m on $353m of revenue, and Sportico estimated operating losses of $55m in 2022 and $27m in 2023. None of this covers Aston Martin Lagonda, the separate road-car business.
Aston Martin doesn’t publish F1 pay scales, but a race engineer typically earns around $135k on industry benchmarks, with a race mechanic at $75k and a number one mechanic nearer $100k. Adrian Newey’s personal deal is exceptional and says nothing about normal engineering pay. Online salary listings often mix in road-car jobs, so check the employer.
Aston Martin Lagonda, the listed road-car maker, doesn’t own the Aston Martin F1 team. The team is a separate private company controlled by Lawrence Stroll through Racing Point UK. Buying road-car shares gives you nothing in the Silverstone outfit, and Woody Johnson’s 2026 investment went into the F1 team, not the car company.
Fernando Alonso earns a $24m base salary at Aston Martin and Lance Stroll earns $12m, so the 2026 driver bill is $36m before bonuses. Alonso’s two-year deal is worth $48m and Stroll’s is worth $24m. Both drivers signed new contracts for 2027 on September 29, 2026, but neither fee has been published.
