What Is Microsoft's Mercedes Deal Worth?
Microsoft’s partnership with Mercedes is worth around $60m a year, the figure Sky News reported on launch day in January 2026 and BlackBook Motorsport carried. Microsoft also supplies Azure computing, AI tools and software under the deal, and neither company has said how much of the $60m is cash rather than technology.
Only PETRONAS is worth more at Mercedes. No other current deal on the grid without naming rights carries a bigger number, and Shell at Ferrari is the closest on $40m.
The $60m deal equals about 2 hours of Microsoft's $331.8bn revenue.

Why Did Microsoft Choose Mercedes?
Microsoft needs big companies to move their computing onto Azure, and an F1 team is about as demanding a customer as it can point to. Each Mercedes carries more than 400 sensors producing over 1.1m data points a second, and the pitch is that Azure turns that stream into real-time answers for engineers at the factory and at the track.
The timing suited both sides. The deal began with F1’s 2026 rules, when every team had a new chassis and power unit to understand, and after Singapore the Mercedes W17 wearing Microsoft’s logo leads both championships.

Microsoft F1 and Sports Sponsorship History
Mercedes isn’t Microsoft’s first F1 team. It spent several seasons with the Enstone squad in its Lotus and Renault years, and it’s got other big sports deals running alongside.
Microsoft F1 Sponsor Questions
Microsoft is an F1 sponsor in 2026 through Mercedes, which lists it as a principal partner. Its logo is on the W17 and the drivers’ kit, and the deal also puts Azure cloud computing, AI tools and GitHub to work across the team’s engineering at Brackley, Brixworth and the track.
Around $60m a year is the value Sky News put on Microsoft’s Mercedes deal when it was announced in January 2026. That includes technology as well as rights, since Microsoft supplies Azure computing and software, and there’s no public split showing how much of it arrives as cash.
Microsoft gives Mercedes Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure AI, high-performance computing and virtual sensors, along with GitHub and Microsoft 365. The team uses them at its Brackley and Brixworth factories and trackside to handle a car that carries more than 400 sensors and produces over 1.1m data points a second.
Microsoft replaced INEOS only on the airbox, the prominent spot INEOS filled before 2026. INEOS is still one of the three principal partners alongside Microsoft and CrowdStrike, and it still owns a third of the team, so its relationship with Mercedes carries on.
Yes, Microsoft worked with the Enstone team for several years before Mercedes. It signed a three-year deal with Lotus F1 Team in 2012 and was still partnered with the same squad in 2016, by then racing as Renault Sport Formula One Team and running Azure machine learning.
