Will Joseph's F1 Salary With McLaren

Lando Norris’s race engineer is paid from a £200k-450k ($265k-596k) base band in F1 Salaries’ role-based figures. Joseph leads McLaren’s race engineering as well, and that wider job is why his band sits above the £100k-180k ($133k-239k) used for engineers who look after one car.

With a bonus of £20k-135k ($27k-179k), his total would reach £220k-585k ($292k-775k). He was on the radio when Norris won the 2025 drivers’ title, although McLaren has never said whether that championship paid out for its engineers.

Will Joseph's Two Jobs on the McLaren Pit Wall

On a race weekend Joseph is Lando Norris‘s race engineer, in charge of the setup of his car and the technical conversation between driver and team. Away from the radio he leads McLaren’s race engineering group, which covers the engineers on both cars.

Norris has never had another race engineer in Formula 1. They started together in 2019, and Joseph kept the car when McLaren promoted him to director in 2024. His colleague Tom Stallard engineers Oscar Piastri, and both answer to the leadership of Andrea Stella.
