Lando Norris earns a $30m base salary from McLaren in 2026, his first season as the reigning world champion. That’s $12m more than last year and 60 times the $500k he was paid as a rookie in 2019.
His base has gone up every year but one since his debut, and the leap from $12m in 2024 to $30m now is the steepest part of that climb. Over 23 Grands Prix it works out at $1.3m a race.
Estimates his 2025 bonuses at $39.5m, the benchmark for what a strong 2026 could add to his base.

Why Norris's Bonus Could Outweigh His Salary
Bonuses could be worth more to Norris than his salary. They brought in $39.5m during his 2025 title season, and a repeat would lift his potential income to $69.5m, within $500k of Lewis Hamilton’s $70m. His 2026 season stats put him sixth in the standings on 211 points after back-to-back victories in Hungary and the Netherlands, a podium in Madrid and fifth place at the United States Grand Prix.

Lando Norris's Contract for the 2026 Season
Norris is racing this season under the extension McLaren announced on January 26, 2024. Its exact end date was never made public, but it covers the three seasons from 2024 to 2026 before his new contract takes over.
His $12m base in 2024, $18m in 2025 and $30m this year add up to $60m in salary across the deal. Bonuses have been the bigger story. They beat his base in both of the last two seasons, reaching $23m in 2024 and $39.5m in 2025 as he went from first-time winner to world champion.
Norris's New McLaren Contract Through 2030
McLaren announced on August 29, 2026 that Norris has signed until at least the end of 2030. The four-year deal starts in 2027 and is reported to be worth up to £30m ($39.8m) a season, or £120m ($159m) in all.
No split between salary and bonuses has been published, so that figure covers his whole package rather than a base salary.
Norris has spent his whole F1 career at McLaren, and his earnings track the team’s climb back to the front. His base grew from $500k as a rookie to $30m, with bonuses often worth even more. Those earnings sit behind his estimated $80m net worth.

Why McLaren Built Its Future Around Norris
Norris is the reigning champion and a driver McLaren developed itself, which is why the team has committed to him until at least 2030.
The number one on his car. Winning the 2025 title with 423 points made him McLaren’s first drivers’ champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
Results that pay out. His 13 wins and 19 poles from 169 starts explain why his bonuses have outgrown his salary.
Raised in-house. He joined McLaren’s young driver program in 2017 and has never raced for another F1 team.
Ahead of a fast teammate. He finished 13 points clear of Oscar Piastri in 2025 and leads him again this year.
No bidding war. Signing him to 2030 before his current deal ran out shut the door on rival offers for 2027.
How Norris Compares With Oscar Piastri
Norris’s $30m base is more than double Oscar Piastri’s $13m. Their bonus scenarios stretch the difference to $29m, with Norris on $69.5m and Piastri on $40.5m, and the points table favors Norris too at 211 to 144. He’s also signed for longer, to 2030 against Piastri’s 2028.
Lando Norris is signed to McLaren until at least the end of 2030. His new four-year contract, announced on August 29, 2026, starts in 2027 and follows the deal he’s racing on this season. It’s reported to be worth up to £120m ($159m) across those four years.
McLaren is paying Lando Norris a $30m base salary in 2026. If his bonuses match the $39.5m he earned during his 2025 title season, his potential income reaches $69.5m. From 2027, his new deal is reported at up to £30m ($39.8m) a year as a total package.
On average, Lando Norris makes $2.5m a month from his $30m McLaren base salary. With the bonus scenario included, the monthly figure rises to $5.79m. That’s simply his annual pay divided by 12, because McLaren’s actual payment schedule isn’t public.
Lando Norris makes about $1.3m per race from his $30m McLaren base salary, spread across the 23 Grands Prix of 2026. If his bonuses match the $39.5m he earned in his 2025 title season, the per-race average jumps to $3.02m.
McLaren doesn’t pay him race by race, so these are simple averages.
No fixed title bonus has been published for Lando Norris, but Forbes estimated his bonuses in 2025, the year he won the championship, at $39.5m. That was more than double his $18m base and took his pay to $57.5m. McLaren doesn’t disclose how its bonuses are worked out, so the exact reward for the title is unknown.
Lando Norris earns more than Oscar Piastri, with a $30m McLaren base salary in 2026 that’s more than double Piastri’s $13m. Bonus scenarios put them at $69.5m and $40.5m, a gap of $29m.
Norris also leads the points 211 to 144, and he’s signed to 2030 while Piastri’s deal runs to 2028.
